Let me start by saying that I have not the shackles of a single Corporate Master, where I have to tow a single company line. I, instead, am a technological consultant to many, a webmaster of several, a database engineer, and a custom solution provider to many clients nationwide. I have built my company for over a decade with hard work, and savvy decisions. My clients ask that I tell them what is coming, what I see on the technological horizon, as it helps to guide their day to day technological decisions. Good decisions save them money.
I am asked to stay in front, and help my clients stay in front of their competitors too. With this forward looking information, my clients expect that the investment in their technology is for a longer term, and that it saves them much in redundant annual rebuilding.
The other portion of my job is to actually get the work done. Sure we have an idea where we are going based on the CEO's decisions in a meeting. However, somebody has to turn that into a reality. I turn around and become the help that gets the job done. By having two hats, I not only contribute productive development, but also get some say in how that development should proceed.
Broomfield Designers helps the customer maximize their investments by knowing the horizon, and then actively investing or changing their technology to embrace it. CES is one step in that process.
No matter what you did for vacation, CES energizes your brain, and makes you want to work again. This is my favorite time of year because watching, feeling, and being a part of this industry enthusiasm is intoxicating. It has definitely added to my career and furthered profession. I hope some of that is transferred back to my clients as well.
